First Game

The boys had their first game today!  It was cool and cloudy, but the rain held off so they could play!  I was expecting Ty to be nervous and possibly cry because he had a few melt downs at practice, and I was right.  The boys warmed up and stretched with their team and when it was time to get in the dug out for the game, Ty lost it and when I asked him why he was crying, he said, "I don't know".  I told him he had to play and if he did well we would get ice cream; he continued to cry for about 10 minutes but he did as he was told, lined up for batting order and then out on the field for defense.  After that he got over it and was fine the rest of the game.  He was even playing and being silly on the field; it was like he was a different kid.  Our team played very well for their first game; a few key players in the infield made our outs quickly and the kids batted well off the T.  A.J. and Ty both got a hit; A.J. got to first and then his brother was up next, but Ty got our third out at first to end that inning.  As they went in the dugout, I told Ty how proud I was that he got a hit and he was doing a great job, then he asked me, "Can we have ice cream now?" :-)  We ended up winning 5-3.  At one point, Ty called me from the dugout and said, "Mom, we're winning!"
Gram pushed Mark in the stroller until he eventually fell asleep.  Chief was a great coach for the boys and the whole team.  We're looking forward to a great season!

Ty's School Days

It's hard to believe Ty's first year of pre-school is coming to an end.  It has been a really great experience for him and we are so glad we made the decision to enroll him.  He is blessed with an amazing teacher, Ms. Casey.  I couldn't ask for a better teacher for him; she is so sweet and kind, yet structured and organized.  She has made a huge impact on his life and I will always be grateful.  He likes school and asks almost everyday, "Mom, am I going to school today?" because he gets confused on which days he goes (Tues, Wed & Thurs) and which days he doesn't.  On those days when both boys are in school, we drop Aiden off at 7:45 and since Ty's school is about 5 minutes away, we wait in the car for about 40 minutes.  A lot of days I feed Mark his breakfast during this time and Ty will play the ipad.  We wait in the church parking lot and when it's time to move into car line Ty likes to drive us there in my lap.  He gets a mint, grabs his backpack and heads to school.  At school they do chapel, and music class each week.  Most days they go outside and each week they learn a new letter in alphabetical order.  They will practice the sound it makes, write it uppercase and lowercase, learn the sign for it in sign language and usually make an animal craft that starts with that letter.  They also have show-and-tell each week with the letter.  Ty likes coming up with an item for show-and-tell.  He loves being "helper of the day" where he is line leader and gets to help pass things out.

Here he is as "bible holder" in chapel

Storybook Character Day where he was "Pete the Cat"

Each day a different child's paper is chosen for "Paper of the Day"

We're so thankful for a Christ-centered pre-school and all that Ty is learning there!

Doc Update

Our big boys had their annual check ups today!  At the doctor's office, I watched both of them and thought to myself, 'they are both big kids now'.  Something about Ty turning four seems like he's entered into the big kid world and out of the toddler, little kid world.  It's really surreal sometimes.
They both had great check ups.  The doctor said they are both growing normally and excelling mentally.  We talked about what they are eating and the amount of physical activity they get each day.  I asked Dr. P about Ty using both his left and right hands for different activities and he expects him to be left handed since he is writing with this hand.  He said it is hereditary and since Dadda is a lefty, Ty will probably be one too.  They checked their vision, hearing, blood pressure and motor skills.  Ty received the last of his immunizations and the nurse was impressed with how tough he was.  He got a little upset with the last shot, but calmed down when he got a prize out of the treasure box!

Bike Party

Today we celebrated our big boys birthdays with lots of family and friends at our church with a bike party!  The boys have been anticipating their birthday party for a while now.  It took some time to explain to Ty that the party was for him and his brother.  He said, "AJ can come to my party" and I had to reiterate, "2 birthdays, one party".
The weather turned out to be perfect, sunny and 65 degrees.  The kids had a great time and played nearly non stop the entire time.  They rode in circles and everywhere in the parking lot for a while, then played on the playground, then everyone got a swing at the pinata, with some snacking and cake eating in between.  I think there was about 20 kids there, and Ty's friend from school Emery even made it.  She was shy at first but eventually rode with Ty on her bike.  I honestly was overwhelmed at the love that our friends and family have shown our boys.  They are so blessed and I am so thankful to be surrounded by such great people.  It was a great party!
