Ty's School Days

It's hard to believe Ty's first year of pre-school is coming to an end.  It has been a really great experience for him and we are so glad we made the decision to enroll him.  He is blessed with an amazing teacher, Ms. Casey.  I couldn't ask for a better teacher for him; she is so sweet and kind, yet structured and organized.  She has made a huge impact on his life and I will always be grateful.  He likes school and asks almost everyday, "Mom, am I going to school today?" because he gets confused on which days he goes (Tues, Wed & Thurs) and which days he doesn't.  On those days when both boys are in school, we drop Aiden off at 7:45 and since Ty's school is about 5 minutes away, we wait in the car for about 40 minutes.  A lot of days I feed Mark his breakfast during this time and Ty will play the ipad.  We wait in the church parking lot and when it's time to move into car line Ty likes to drive us there in my lap.  He gets a mint, grabs his backpack and heads to school.  At school they do chapel, and music class each week.  Most days they go outside and each week they learn a new letter in alphabetical order.  They will practice the sound it makes, write it uppercase and lowercase, learn the sign for it in sign language and usually make an animal craft that starts with that letter.  They also have show-and-tell each week with the letter.  Ty likes coming up with an item for show-and-tell.  He loves being "helper of the day" where he is line leader and gets to help pass things out.

Here he is as "bible holder" in chapel

music class

Storybook Character Day where he was "Pete the Cat"

Each day a different child's paper is chosen for "Paper of the Day"

We're so thankful for a Christ-centered pre-school and all that Ty is learning there!

Doc Update

Our big boys had their annual check ups today!  At the doctor's office, I watched both of them and thought to myself, 'they are both big kids now'.  Something about Ty turning four seems like he's entered into the big kid world and out of the toddler, little kid world.  It's really surreal sometimes.
They both had great check ups.  The doctor said they are both growing normally and excelling mentally.  We talked about what they are eating and the amount of physical activity they get each day.  I asked Dr. P about Ty using both his left and right hands for different activities and he expects him to be left handed since he is writing with this hand.  He said it is hereditary and since Dadda is a lefty, Ty will probably be one too.  They checked their vision, hearing, blood pressure and motor skills.  Ty received the last of his immunizations and the nurse was impressed with how tough he was.  He got a little upset with the last shot, but calmed down when he got a prize out of the treasure box!

Bike Party

Today we celebrated our big boys birthdays with lots of family and friends at our church with a bike party!  The boys have been anticipating their birthday party for a while now.  It took some time to explain to Ty that the party was for him and his brother.  He said, "AJ can come to my party" and I had to reiterate, "2 birthdays, one party".
The weather turned out to be perfect, sunny and 65 degrees.  The kids had a great time and played nearly non stop the entire time.  They rode in circles and everywhere in the parking lot for a while, then played on the playground, then everyone got a swing at the pinata, with some snacking and cake eating in between.  I think there was about 20 kids there, and Ty's friend from school Emery even made it.  She was shy at first but eventually rode with Ty on her bike.  I honestly was overwhelmed at the love that our friends and family have shown our boys.  They are so blessed and I am so thankful to be surrounded by such great people.  It was a great party!

Aiden- 6 years old

Six years ago, God gave me the privilege of being a mother.  I LOVE it, it's been a wonderful journey and we're just getting started.  Aiden is such a unique special little boy.  He's the big boy in our house, but every time I pick him up from school, I am reminded just how little he still is. :-)

Aiden . . .

has improved in reading so much this year.  He knows hundreds of sight words and can sound out most other words.  I love hearing him read.

is very sweet to Mark.  He will feed him, help him, and give him toys to play with.

loves riding his bike more than other activity!

likes playing golf, playing Wii, playing games on my ipad, air hockey, twister, and playing games with other people.

is now wearing his third pair of glasses in a year.  On the first pair, the nose piece broke, and the second pair got a scratched lens.  He is only slightly nearsighted in his right eye.

tells me he doesn't like school, but likes outside time and gym.  He gives up very little information about what they do at school each day.

is still shy and doesn't like to talk to people he doesn't know well.

can be very bossy to Ty ordering him to do things.  Most of the time, Ty will do them without question.

can swing on his own by kicking his feet out and under.

has such an interest in speed.  He loves to talk about how fast anything goes (cars, bikes, planes, trains, etc.)

is very ticklish.

likes to eat peanut butter, strawberries, chicken nuggets, applesauce, granola bars, grapes, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti and has recently become interested in how much protein is in every food (because Dad told him it will make him stronger).  Once I told him that cauliflower has the most protein and he asked for it for days and actually ate it too.  :-)

now eats string cheese and cheese on pizza, but no other cheeses (unless he doesn't know it is in the dish)

likes to randomly get a pencil and paper and write.  Recently he wrote "Jef and Hide luf ech uther" and it just melted my heart.

is such a good sleeper.  has not woken up in the middle of the night in longer than I can remember.

I brought Chick-fil-A and Chocolate/chocolate cupcakes to Aidens school for lunch today per his request and we will have Chick-fil-A again for dinner because thats what he wanted.  I asked him this morning if he was going to continue to cuddle with me now that he is 6 and he told me he would cuddle with me until he turns 32. :-)

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

Birthday Lunch

As requested, I brought this birthday boy Chick-fil-A and chocolate cupcakes, with chocolate icing and sprinkles.  :-)  Love one-on-one time with him!

Dave & Busters

Because our boys had so much fun last year, we decided to take them back to Dave & Busters as their birthday present.  Its so fun for Jeff and I to spend time with them, they are both "big kids" now and going places without Mark seems so much easier.  It was a day all about them, without interruption from their little brother. :-)  It was great because they had new and different games, but also some of their favorites from last year.  They played racing games, Deal or No Deal, Fruit Ninja, Temple Run, Mario Cart, Skeet Ball and their favorite the coin game.  They loved it because they won lots of tickets.  Aiden jumped up and down as he saw the machine spit out hundreds of tickets.  I think we ended up with over 3000 and the boys walked out with some neat prizes and candy of course.  We shared milk shakes and a snack while we were there.  I see this becoming an annual tradition.
