Dentist

Aiden had his first dentist appointment today and it went great.  The lobby at the dentist office was a child's dream play world.  There was a tree house, lots of toys and Aiden's favorite; many electronic games.  He played a touch screen coloring and drawing game while we waited.  He was called back and he had x-rays done and a short cleaning.  He was very quiet and compliant as he sat in the chair and did what he was told to do.  He choose a prize from the "prize wall"- a matchbox car and we waited for the dentist- Dr. Brad.  He did a quick exam and said Aiden had a few cavities; so we will work on the brushing and flossing.  I was surprised because Aiden loves to brush his teeth!  He had a great visit and the hygenist said he was an ideal patient especially for his first time!

Haircuts

These pictures show how difficult it is to get children to look decent for a photograph, but I thought it would be fun to do before and after pics.

Poor Ty has allergies and the minute he walks outside, his eyes start watering and his nose running (you can tell in the first picture).  But the boys did great during their haircuts- it had been a while, so they really needed them.  The bribery of suckers worked for them to sit still for a few minutes and I love their new dos. :-)

Aiden's Chore Chart

Recently, we have implemented a chore chart for Aiden.  He is very excited about the idea and looks forward to doing his chores each night after dinner.  He has three chores;

1. after dinner, clear the table; put dishes in the sink and vacuum under the table (mostly from Ty making a mess while eating)

2. clear the living room of toys.  He picks up the toys that made it into the living room that day and puts them in the play room.

3. clean his room; place toys in his toy box and dirty clothes in his hamper

He is given $0.10 per chore and gets paid weekly.  This first week he did 10 chores and earned $1.00.  He counts his stars numerous times a day.  I love that he is excited about it and I think it is a great learning tool!
