Ty- Doc Update

I took Ty to the pediatrician this morning and he had a great check up.  Doc said he is very healthy and everything looks great.  He is growing well and his motor skills are up to par.  Here are his stats:

Weight = 26 lbs   66%
Length = 33 1/2in   95%
Head Circ = 19 1/4  89%

He was given 2 vaccines and did pretty well.  He cried for a moment and then was fine after I offered a snack.

Swimmin' with cousins

While Dadda and Uncle Marcus were away on a Bachelor Party Trip, the boys and I took a trip to Athens to see Aunt Shelley and my nephew and 2 nieces.  We had lunch, stopped by the store to buy some pool toys and lawn chairs and headed to the back yard to cool off.  This was the boys' first time in a pool this year; Aiden clung to me until he realized his floaties could hold him up.  Besides drinking a little water, he loved swimming around.  Ty, on the other hand, would not let go of me in the pool.  He wanted to splash, but refused to get in the baby float.  There was no need for lawn chairs, because I was constantly holding Ty and Shelley played with the kids in the pool.
We let them dig into a bowl full of watermelon and they loved it!
After we got them bathed and dried off, we had a dance party in the living room!  All 5 kids were dancing.  Aiden wanted to dance and do somersaults and dance again.  Ty would run around and purposely fall on the floor repeatedly.  They formed a train and danced around the island.  Shelley and I just watched and laughed, it was pretty funny!  After all the activity we were too tired to drive home, so we stayed the night and got a good night's rest.  The boys always have fun with their cousins!

Being a little brother . . .

I love my big brother, Aiden, but sometimes it's hard being his little brother.  He can get too rough when we play and sometimes I get hurt.  This morning, while playing outside we were taking turns hitting the ball off the tee with the plastic baseball bat.  It was Aiden's turn and mom had just told him to be careful around me.  I didn't get out of the way fast enough, and Aiden swung back and hit me right on the forehead with the bat.  It hurt really bad, but mom made me feel better.  Then she grabbed the camera and made me smile so we could show all of you my big boo-boo. :-)

Gone Fishin'

This past weekend, we made a trip up to Dayton, TN for Joseph and Jessica's wedding.  Joseph and I grew up together and he's like a brother to me.  It was great to see family and friends we hadn't seen in a while.  The outdoor wedding was beautiful; a gorgeous afternoon on the Tennessee River.  The boys had a great time- Ty was very social, roaming around the reception being adored (although I think he was just looking for food), but the guests loved him.  He spent some time with Dr. Schilling and Denise, who knew him even before I did (as my OB and ultrasound tech).  After he got over the volume level of the music, Aiden finally danced a few songs at the end of the night, but the highlight of his night was learning to fish with Chief.  Just behind the reception tent, conveniently was a dock perfect for teaching a grandson to fish, with the pole he's had even before birth.

Aiden was more interested in the box of numerous colorful "worms" than waiting to feel the fish tug on the line.  He wanted a new lure after each cast. :-)  No fish were caught, but Aiden sure had a great time fishing with Chief!

Swinging

We took the boys to the park tonight and they LOVED the swings.  Ty loved his little baby seat swing and he liked going high.
I remember the first time we put Aiden in a swing- he was very nonchalant at about a year old.  Later that summer he screamed when I put him in a swing.  He has always been a little nervous about swings- then again, he is nervous about a lot of things.  When he was 2, I would always ask if he wanted to go swing every time we went to the park and he said no.  A few time I would put him in my lap and swing and he was okay with that as long as I didn't go too high.  Well today he swung by himself!  I think he saw how much fun his little brother was having that it must have been worth a try.  He let me push him, but at a reasonable height.  I am thankful that he is cautious and not a total daredevil.

Ty- 15 months

Ty . . .

waves bye-bye (inward)

says "ba" meaning ball, "a-ya" meaning Aiden, and "mom"

sleeps all night but naps irregularly; sometimes once, other times twice a day from 30 min - 2hrs

eats very well, will try just about anything.  He likes vegetables, meats, crackers and loves mac-n-cheese and bread.  He doesn't love fruit like his brother- he'll eat bananas, but he doesn't like peaches, oranges, or berries.

gives high-five

likes to close and turn on the dishwasher.  Big brother taught him that one.

loves climbing on the couch and sometimes just sits there for a few minutes

plays golf outside.  He puts the toy club on the ground and does a quick back-swing and then he'll look over his shoulder to make sure I am watching.

is passive when Aiden is mean to him.  He doesn't fuss when Aiden takes his toys or his food.  Recently I caught Aiden pouring water on Ty's head in the bath and Ty didn't cry, he just sat there.

walks very well and recently likes the challenge of level changes; i. e. the step down from the backdoor leading outside.  He goes in and out trying to keep his balance.

likes to cuddle when he wakes up

has a full set of 16 teeth.  Within the past month, 8 came in all at once, including his first set of 4 molars.

sometimes swats other kids on top of their head.

knows "no" and usually listens the first time.  Thus far, he is a compliant child, wanting to please mom and daddy.

likes to open all his dresser drawers and pull out each and every piece of clothing.  Big brother usually helps with this task.

Crusin'

The boys still LOVE their jeep!  They ride almost everyday and Aiden asks to ride all the time.  Ty is perfectly content riding in the passenger seat with total faith in his brother's driving, which is pretty good for a 3 year old.  He never goes in the street and doesn't hit any trees. :-)

At the Park

We found a new park that the boys and I love!  It has a new playground, swings, a big open field and lots of shade!  We packed a lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  Ty had a great time- he got right behind his brother and tried his best to keep up.  He loved walking/climbing on the playground, but didn't want to do the slide by himself.  With my help- he was all smiles the whole way down!

I recently bought Aiden a pair of sunglasses because he is always squinting outside and he loves them!  He is sporting them as he goes down the big slide!  He likes to wear them while riding in the car and driving his jeep.

We had a good time- I'm sure we'll be back soon!
