Egg Hunt at Papa's Church

Today we went to Papa's Church for an early Easter Egg Hunt.  It was a little chilly, but that didn't stop  the boys from finding lots of eggs.  They we're expecting a big turn out, but it was opening day for baseball and the weather may have kept some people home.  Our boys and 3 other children had over 2000 eggs to find!  We have enough candy for a year!

No School

The boys were out of school today so we decided to make the most of it with lots of activities.  We played some games inside and when it warmed up (a little) we got outside to plant the garden.  The boys did a great job helping me!  We planted a blueberry bush, tomatoes, peppers and some spices.  Hoping for a good garden this year!

After Mark woke up from his nap, AJ asked me if they could watch my car, of course I said yes!  They did a great job and had fun doing it too!

It was a great day and I really enjoy when they are all home with me because it doesn't happen as much any more. :-)

Potty Training Round 3

I am now potty training for the third time- I should be an expert.  I thought about trying to potty train Mark over the holidays when Jeff was home.  Mark was not into it and just didn't seem interested.  I would put him on the potty and he would say, "Put my diaper on, I don't want candy".  I knew I shouldn't push it, so we waited.  He really wasn't showing an intrest, but I had potty trained the other boys at about his age and I didn't want to wait much longer so I gave it another try.  At first he resisted, but I got the older boys involved- we talked about being very excited for Mark and showing him how to be a big boy.

Step 1- always be naked (ready to sit on the potty at any moment)

Step 2- sitting on the potty, sometimes for a long time

Step 3- Look for "pee-pee" in the potty.

Step 4- celebrate!!!  Mark's reward for pee-pee is a dum-dum sucker, but for going #2, he gets Ice Cream!!!

He has definitely been the most challenging, and had the most accidents.  It's taken a little more time, but he is ready and after about 2 weeks, he is doing very well!  I am so proud of him and I am SO happy to be done with diapers!!!

Date with AJ

AJ and I spent some quality time together on a morning date today.  He took me to Truetts for their yummy breakfast, then he suggested we go to starbucks for a treat (which he paid for). We walked around a book store sipping our drinks and then went to Pin Strikes to play some arcade games.  A fun time for both of us!

Doc Update

I took the big boys to the Doctor this morning for their check ups.  The nurse checked their vitals and they were both given hearing tests.  Ty was given a vision screening ase well, but AJ doesn't have one at the peditrician since he sees an eye doctor.  Ty failed his hearing test for the second year in a row and the doctor also noticed his large tonsils (almost touching).  He thinks he may have fluid in his ears and isn't concerned, he assumes his throat, ears, possible congestion are all related and contribute to his seasonal allergies.  We discussed their diet and basic life skills they should know at 5 and 7 and the Doctor said they both look great!  Here are their stats:

AJ

Weight- 56.4 lbs   74%  (gained 4 lbs in 1 year)
Height- 48 1/2 in   59% (grew 2 inches)
BMI- 16.86   78%

Ty

Weight- 45.7 lbs   79% (gained 4 lbs)
Height- 45 1/4 in   89% (grew 2.5 in)
BMI- 15.69   58%

They both are caught up on their vaccines and won't have any more until they are 11.

Ty at school

Ty's teacher posted some pictures and they were so good, I had to share.  Ty LOVES going to school and we are so blessed to have found HFBA!  The teachers are all wonderful and Ty is learning so much!

Pajama Day last week

This if from their field trip to Spivey Hall.  They watched a play and Papa went with Ty.

Having fun!

Today was story book character day in honor of Dr. Suess Birthday!  Ty was Pete The Cat!  They had a parade to show off their costumes.  Ty told me, "Ms. Kelly said the parade was going to be fun- but it wasn't that fun, it was just walking".  Ha ha!
